General Questions

1. What is RHB Essential Elite Guard (EEG)?

This is a guaranteed yearly renewable term plan that provides basic coverage on Death (all causes) and additional coverage on Accidental Death and Accidental Total and Permanent Disability (ATPD). The Sum Assured will be paid in one lump sum as the death benefit.

This plan also provides Daily Hospital Cash Benefit for Hospital Confinement (admission to hospital) due to Accident and comes with No Claim Discount (NCD).

This plan does not contain any saving or investment and does not participate in our profits.

This product is distributed by RHB Bank Berhard (6171-X), underwritten by Tokio Marine Life Insurance Malaysia Berhard (457556-X).

2. Who is eligible for this plan?

This plan is offered to Malaysian age next birthday 18 to 65 years old.

3. How long is the coverage for this plan?

As long as you continue pay your premium on time, your coverage will continue until the last day of the policy year in which you turns 70 years old.

4. How much do I need to pay for this plan and how long do I need to pay?

The monthly premium for this plan starts from as low as RM 2.30/day. There are 4 types of packaged plans to be chosen based your budget:

Note: Premium payable is not guaranteed and subject to change depending on the claims experience. We reserves the right to revise the premium payable at the time of renewal by giving the policy owner a 90-day prior written notice.

Your premium paying term is same as your coverage term.

5. Will there be any receipts issued to me after each premium payment?

You will not receive any receipt since your payment is done via auto debit. However, you may refer to your bank statement for payment details.

6. What happens if I do not pay premium on time?

If any premium due remains unpaid after the grace period of 30 days, the coverage will lapse.

7. If Death occurs, what is the benefit payable?

Upon Death, the Sum Assured amount based on your plan selected will be payable.

However, if Death occurs during the first 2 policy year, we will refund your total premiums paid up to date.

In the event where the Death is due to accidental means (Accidental Death), we will pay an additional 300% of the Sum Assured amount based on your plan selected.

8. If ATPD occurs, what is the benefit payable?

Upon ATPD, 400% of the Sum Assured amount based on your plan selected will be payable.

The maximum additional benefits payable for Additional Accidental Death is RM 1 mil per life for all policies under TMLM.

9. What is the benefit payable for admission to hospital (hospital confinement) due to accident?

Upon admission to hospital due to accidental causes, the daily hospital cash benefit allowance, amounting to 1% of the Sum Assured based on your selected plan will be payable.

This daily allowance will be payable up to maximum 90 days for each policy year. The first daily allowance payable shall due from the first day of admission to hospital. On top of that, upon admission to hospital in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) due to Accident, a lump sum ICU benefit, which amounts to 10% of the Sum Assured based on your selected plan will be payable.

10. What is No Claim Discount (NCD)? How it works?

No Claim Discount (NCD) is a discount given to the policyholders upon renewal of their plan starting from the 2nd policy year if no claim is made on the previous policy year. The size of the discount is 5% of the initial premium. If no claim is made on the subsequent renewal year, this NCD will increase by 5% for every subsequent renewal year until a maximum of 25% discount of the initial premium is reached.

11. Can I reinstate my coverage after it has lapsed?

Subject to underwriting, you may reinstate your policy within 12 months from the date of lapse. All NCD will be reset.

12. How will the NCD be forfeited?

Once a claim has been made, the NCD will be forfeited and reset to 0% in the following policy year. The policyholder will need to pay full renewal premium without discount on the subsequent renewal year. The NCD will be reinstated at 5% again if no claim is made during the subsequent renewal year.

13. Does this plan qualify for tax relief?

Your premiums are eligible for income tax deduction subject to the approval of the Inland Revenue Board. For more details log in to www.hasil.gov.my

14. What is the underwriting requirement for this plan?

This plan is guaranteed acceptance. As such, no underwriting is required.

15. Am I allowed to buy more than one policy?

You are allowed to buy more than one policy. However, the benefit payable for Death is subject to a maximum of RM 50,000 per life under RHB EEG.

16. Is my policy renewable yearly? Is it auto renewed?

Your policy will be auto renewed every year upon each policy anniversary through auto debit until you are 70 years old.

17. What is Nomination?

Nomination is a process to assist in the facilitation of payment of monies under the insurance cover in the event of your death.

18. What happens if I do not make a Nomination?

If you do not make a nomination, it will cause a delay in claims payment.

19. How can I name my nominee?

You can name your nominee after you purchase this plan by printing out the Appointment of Nominee form attached in Welcome email. You may also download the Appointment of Nominee form from our corporate website. To avoid delay in future claims payout, We strongly advice you to:

  1. name your immediate family member as your nominee, e.g. your spouse, children or parents; and
  2. complete the Appointment of Nominee form and return the duly signed document to your nearest Tokio Marine Life offices.

20. How can my nominee make a claim?

Your nominee can complete our claim form (which can be downloaded from our website). He can then submit the claim form and death certificate at any of our branches.

21. If I find the policy is no longer suitable, can I cancel the policy?

15-day free look - If you change your mind and cancel this plan within 15 days after delivery of the policy to you, we will immediately stop your coverage and refund the premium you have paid less any medical fee incurred (if any).

After the 15-day free look period, you can cancel your policy at any time. Once you cancel your coverage, no surrender value is payable and coverage will continue until the next premium due date.

23. What are the exclusions for this plan?

  1. Death Benefit:
    The Death Benefit shall not be payable for death of the Life Assured resulting from:
    1. suicide while sane or insane within 1 year from the issue date or reinstatement date; or
    2. Acquired Immune-Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) or infection by any Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV).

  2. Additional Accidental Death Benefit, Accidental Total and Permanent Disability, Lump sum Intensive Care Unit (ICU) payment (Hospital Confinement due to Accident) or Daily Hospital Cash Benefit due to Accident:
    The Additional Accidental Death Benefit, Accidental Total and Permanent Disability, Lump sum Intensive Care Unit (ICU) payment (Hospital Confinement due to Accident) or Daily Hospital Cash Benefit due to Accident shall not be payable if the death, total and permanent disability or Hospital Confinement resulting from directly or indirectly, wholly or partly by:
    1. any form of illness or disease due to non-accidental causes; or
    2. attempted suicide (whether sane or insane); or
    3. self-inflicted injury or injury sustained while under the influence of drugs or intoxicating alcohol; or
