TokioMarine-TermDefender is a non-participating level premium term plan that covers death and total and permanent disability (TPD).

Level premium means that your premium payable will remain unchanged from the time you purchase this policy until the entire duration of your policy coverage term.


However, since you are only paying for pure protection without allocating your money into any investments, this means that your premiums will be substantially cheaper than policies which combine protection with savings and investments elements.


This depends on the term plan you purchase:

  • Minimum Entry Age : 18 years old next birthday
  • Maximum Entry Age :
    • 60 years old next birthday for 10 years term
    • 50 years old next birthday for 20 years term
    • 40 years old next birthday for 30 years term


Yes. If you are a Malaysian citizen with an NRIC and a Malaysian address, and if you reside outside of Malaysia in certain countries (New Zealand, Australia, USA, Canada, UK, Ireland, Brunei or Singapore), you are eligible to buy this product.


We want to keep it simple and convenient for you. You are not required to undergo any medical examinations or health checks. All you need to do is truthfully answer some health and lifestyle questions on our website. However, in the event of non-disclosure during claim stage, We reserve the right to avoid the policy, reject or reduce a claim and/or change or vary the terms after system validation at TMLM.


Yes, you can assign the ownership of this Policy to someone else. Once you have a policy, changing the ownership is simple. You and the new owner would need to simply complete an ‘Deed of Assignment’ Form, which can be downloaded from here and submit to our customer service via any of our branches.

Kindly note that electronic submission of the Deed of Assignment will not be accepted.


We cover you worldwide. All you need to take note of is that your premium should continue to be paid in Malaysian Ringgit (RM). You can choose to pay through a Malaysian bank account or by credit card.


TokioMarine-TermDefender is a pure protection term plan best suited to any applicants who:

  • require substantial amounts of life cover at an affordable entry price; or
  • newly established mortgages; or
  • are likely to have young children,or
  • need to support/fund these obligations for many years to come in the event of a death and/or total and permanent disability. This product is not suitable if you are looking for:
  • a savings product that provides cash back upon maturity
  • medical and hospitalization benefits


This plan does not provide any cash value nor maturity value.


You can purchase multiple TokioMarine-TermDefender policies. However, the aggregated coverage (Sum Assured) should not exceed RM 500,000 per life.


Your coverage will last for 10/20/30 years depending on the coverage term you have chosen, but subject to the expiry age of 70 years old next birthday.


We will not make any payment for death benefit and shall refund all your total premiums paid if you die as a result of suicide within 1 year from your policy’s effective date or reinstatement date, whichever is later.

Yes. However, you are only allowed to reduce your sum assured and it will only take effect on your next premium due. You may complete the Request For Alteration Form in order to alter the policy coverage and submit to:

If, for any reason, you are not satisfied with your purchase, you can submit cancellation letter to Tokio Marine Life within 15 days from the date of delivery of your e-policy contract to get a full refund of the premium you have paid. If, however, you cancel your policy after 15 days, you will not get a refund, but you will also not incur any penalty charges. Your coverage will simply continue until the end of the period that you have paid for. For cancellation, you may contact our customer care service via:

Yes, TokioMarine-TermDefender is eligible for income tax relief subject to the approval of Inland Revenue Board.


We provide grace period of 30 days for premium payment. If any premium due remains unpaid after the grace period, the coverage will lapse.


You may still be able to reinstate your policy provided that:

  • You must not have exceeded the maximum entry age allowable at the time of reinstatement;
  • You submit the completed Reinstatement Application Form to Us via:
    • our email at customercare@tokiomarinelife.com.my
    • any of our branches
  • Payment of all overdue Premiums with interest is made; and
  • Satisfactory evidence of your health and Insurability are submitted at your own expense.
  • Your application for reinstatement shall be approved subject to our underwriting requirements and upon such variations as we may decide.

The Claimant may submit the claim form directly to the nearest Tokio Marine Life branches or through online claim on customer portal (e-Claims). Proof of claim must be accepted and approved by Tokio Marine Life to facilitate the policy’s benefit directly to the appropriate party.No medical check-up is required. However, when applying for your policy, you must answer all the questions on our website truthfully. Otherwise, if you have a claim on the policy in the future, Tokio Marine Life Insurance Malaysia Bhd. reserves the right to reject the claim if you have not been truthful.


A Muslim nominee(s) can only receive policy moneys payable upon the death of the policy owner as an executor and not as a beneficiary. Any payment to the nominee shall form part of the deceased policy owner’s estate and be subject to his debts. Tokio Marine Life will be discharged from liability in respect of the policy moneys paid to a nominee. Upon receipt of the policy moneys, the Muslim nominee(s) shall distribute the policy moneys in accordance with Islamic law.

You can name your nominee when you apply for this plan. If you do not nominate during the application process, you can still do so by following these few simple steps:

  • Step 1: Download the Nomination and Trust Form on our Corporate Website
  • Step 2: Complete the form, have you and your witness sign the formyou have dependants who depend on your income (e.g. spouse, children, aging parents)
  • Step 3: Submit the form to our Customer Service through either:

Life Assured is only allowed to have one policy at one time. Should the Policy lapse/surrender/terminated, he/she can purchase again but will need to go through underwriting again.
